Aesthetic Workout Week 4
When treating patients with multiple lasers the skin is addressed from different angles. For example the IPL laser is Intense Pulse Light. This treats discoloration of the face such as red from broken capillaries and brown from sun damage. IPL also helps produce collagen giving the skin a beautiful glow. The Accent laser is radio frequency. This particular laser has two modalities. One modality is uni polar, which treats deeper into the skin at the dermis layer. This is used to reduce and tighten the skin in the dermis layer. The second modality is bi polar, which tightens more superficially in the epidermis layer of the skin. Pixel laser is pixilated erbium laser. Pixel allows you to treat the skin with an ablative laser, but keep the skin in tact until it heals and sloughs off. Pixel is used to treat fine lines, acne scars and improves pore size. Each laser produces collagen in different ways and the end result is beautifully rejuvenated skin.
The only down time when treating with lasers, if you want to call it that is from the Pixel laser. After being treated with Pixel, skin will be red similar to a bad sunburn for the 1st day and then the second skin will be blotchy – red and white. The 3rd day after being treated with the Pixel laser, skin will become dry and start to get a flaky peel and by the 4th and 5th day skin will start flaking off the dry skin until back to normal. While experiencing all of the above, patients can apply their makeup and go about your business. Depending on the level of treatment and skin type, some patients may also experience some swelling the 1st few days.
